Vision/About Us
Vision
Approximately 20,000 butterfly species inhabit our planet, but their existence is imperiled by habitat destruction and climate change. Our mission is to raise awareness about these majestic creatures through stunning photography in their natural habitats, promoting conservation efforts. Additionally, we are dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge through taxonomic, ecological, and natural history research on various species, ultimately informing effective conservation strategies to protect these delicate beauties.
About Us
Sajan K.C. was born in 1994 in the picturesque hills of Tanahun, Nepal. His fascination with wildlife began in childhood and deepened during his undergraduate studies in agriculture. A sophomore-year assignment on insect collection sparked a passion for entomology, leading him to focus on the ecology and taxonomy of insects, particularly butterflies. Sajan earned his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS, Tribhuvan University), Lamjung Campus, in 2018. He is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of insects and their conservation. His ultimate goal is to inspire a deeper appreciation and care for butterflies among people, while advancing our understanding of their systematics, phylogeny, natural history, distribution, and conservation needs. By bridging the gap between scientific research and public awareness, he aims to promote a collective responsibility for the preservation of these delicate creatures and their habitats, ensuring the long-term survival of butterflies and the ecosystems they inhabit. He completed his MS degree in biology in 2023 from Eastern New Mexico University.
Anisha Sapkota, born in 1998 in Chitwan, Nepal, initially aspired to pursue a career in medical science. However, she discovered her true calling in entomology during her sophomore year at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Chitwan. This serendipitous turn led her to dedicate herself to researching butterfly fauna, resulting in several significant publications. Anisha completed her MS degree in biology from Eastern New Mexico University in 2023. With a passion for conservation and butterfly research, she is committed to growing as a prominent conservationist and researcher, making meaningful contributions to the field.
